Well it was
another awesome weekend on the Major Professional Golf Tours from around the
world. This week the USPGA Tour and FedEx Cup headed to West Virginia for the Greenbrier Classic and it was played on the Old
White TPC, White Sulphur Springs, WV. And it was the golfer by the
name of Jonas Blixt (Sweden) who scored rounds of 66-4, 67-3, 67-3 and a final
round of 67-3 for a 72 hole total of 267-13 and he won by two shots for his
second win on the USPGA Tour of his career to date so far. He won US $1,134,000.00
for the win and moved to 33rd position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money
list standings with US $1,484,863 earned from the 17 events he has played to
date this year so far. Tiger Woods (USA) still leads that list with US $5,909,742
earned from the nine events he has played to date this year so far. He also got
500 FedEx Cup points for the win and moved to 39th position on the current 2013
FedEx Cup Points list standings with 709 points earned from the 17 events he
has played to date this year so far. He is 1,671 points behind the current
FedEx Cup Points list leader who is Tiger Woods (USA) who has earned 2,380
points from the nine events he has played to date this year so far. Tiger Woods
(USA) is 416 points ahead of Matt Kuchar (USA) who has earned 1,964 points from
the 15 events he has played to date this year so far. From the 17 events Jonas
Blixt (Sweden) has played to date this year so far he has made nine cuts and
this was his very first top ten finish of his season to date.
Jonas Blixt (Sweden) played a great final round of 67-3 which included a
front nine of 32-2 which included birdies on the par four, fifth hole and par
four, ninth hole and made the turn at minus 12 and was two shots behind the
leader. Steven Bowditch (Australia) scored 33-1 on the front nine and made the
turn at minus ten and was four shots behind the leader. Matt Jones (Australia)
scored 34 even par on the front nine and made the turn at minus nine and was five
shots behind the leader. Johnson Wagner (USA) scored 34 even par on the front
nine and made turn at minus 14 and was leading by two shots. Jimmy Walker (USA)
went out in 34 even par on his front nine and made the turn at minus 12 and was

Jonas Blixt (Sweden) played holes 10-14 in even par and remained at minus

(Australia) played holes 10-14 in one under par and moved to minus eleven with
four holes to play and was now only one shot behind the leader. Matt Jones
(Australia) played holes 10 – 14 in one under par and moved to minus ten and
was now only two shots off the leader. Johnson Wagner (USA) played holes 10 –
14 in two over par and fell back to minus 12 and was now tied for the lead. Jimmy
Walker (USA) played holes 10 – 14 in one over par and fell back to minus eleven
and but was now only one shot off the lead.
Jonas Blixt (Sweden) played holes 15-17 in one under par and moved to
minus 13 with just the par three, 72nd hole to play and was now leading by two
shots. Steven Bowditch (Australia) played holes 15-17 in even par and remained
at minus eleven and was now two shots behind the leader. Matt Jones (Australia)
played holes 15 -17 in one under par and moved to minus eleven and was still
two shots off the leader. Johnson Wagner (USA) played holes 15 -17 in one over
par and fell back to minus eleven and was now two shots behind the leader. Jimmy
Walker (USA) played holes 15 – 17 in even par and remained at minus eleven with
just the final hole to play and was now two shots off the leader.
Jonas Blixt (Sweden) hit a good tee shot in to the par three, 72nd hole
and left himself with a difficult putt that he had to putt over the ridge from
about 35 feet. He stuck a brilliant putt that came up a foot short of the hole
and he easily tapped in for his par three and scored 35-1 on the back nine and
finished the 72 holes at minus 13 to win by two shots. He celebrated the win with
his caddie!! Steven Bowditch (Australia) made a solid par three, at the par
three, 72nd hole and finished the 72 holes at minus eleven and was two shots
behind the winner. Matt Jones (Australia) made a par three at the par three,

winner. Jimmy Walker (USA) made a solid par three at the par three, 72nd hole
and finished the 72 holes at minus eleven and was two shots behind the winner.
Jonas Blixt (Sweden) has been playing on the USPGA Tour fulltime since the 2012
season after finishing in fifth position on the final 2011 Web.com Tour Money
list standings with US $327,020 earned from the 23 events he played in and that
meant he had secured his full USPGA Tour card for the 2012 season. He had a
fine rookie season on the USPGA Tour in 2012 with playing in twenty one events
and making 15 cuts and he achieved five top ten finishes with one of them being
his maiden win on the USPGA Tour which came at the Frys.com Open in mid
October. He finished in 34th position on the final 2012 USPGA Tour Money list
standings with US $2,255,695 earned and easily retained his full playing status
for the 2013 season. Before this win this past week he was having a poor season
with missing eight cuts out of the 16 events he had played in and he hadn’t
record a single top ten finish. Now he has got his second win on the USPGA Tour
I feel it will install belief in himself to keep on improving. I feel he will
have some more high finishes in the weeks to come on the USPGA Tour. I wish him
all the best for the rest of the 2013 season.
Coming in tied for second position at 269-11 after 72 holes was Steven
Bowditch (Australia); he earned US $415,800.00 for his efforts and moved to
115th position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money list rankings with US $532,244
earned from the 17 events he has played to date this year so far. He also
earned 184 FedEx Cup Points for his efforts and moved to 130th position on the
current 2013 FedEx Cup Points list standings with 273 points earned from the 17
events he has played to date this year so far. From the 17 events he has played
to date this year so far he has made eight cuts and this was his very first top
ten finish he has achieved so far this season. It was also his career best
finish on the USPGA Tour of his career to date so far. He has been playing the
USPGA Tour on and off since the 2006 season but he had a shocking rookie season
with only making two cuts out of the twenty two events he played in. He spent
from 2007 – 2010 playing on the Web.com Tour and in 2010 he had a very good
season and gained his USPGA Tour card back for the 2011 season. In his second
time playing the USPGA Tour fulltime in 2011 he feared a lot better but still
only made 15 cuts from the 28 events he entered and only achieved one top ten
finish and had final earnings on the final 2011 USPGA Tour money list of US $621,378
which placed him in 132nd position on the final money list standings and only
gave him semi status on the USPGA Tour for the 2012 season. In 2012 he had
another poor season with only making five cuts from the 18 events he played in.
He earned US $206,768 and that placed him in 185th position on the final 2012
USPGA Tour Money list standings and that meant he had no status on the USPGA
Tour for the 2013 season. He went back to the 2012 PGA TOUR Qualifying
Tournament where he finished in tied for tenth position and gain back his full
USPGA Tour card for the 2013 season. I feel he now will gain a lot of
confidence out of this finish and could have some more top ten finishes in the
weeks to come. I wish him all the best for the rest of the 2013 season.
Also tied for second position was Matt Jones (Australia); he too earned
US $415,800.00 for his efforts and moved to 59th position on the current 2013
USPGA Tour Money list standings with US $1,083,690 earned from the 18 events he
has played to date this year so far. He also earned 184 FedEx Cup Points for
his efforts and moved to 55th position on the current 2013 FedEx Cup Points
list standings with 623 points earned from the 18 events he has played to date
this year so far. From those 18 events he has played to date this year so far
he has made 13 cuts and achieved two top ten finishes which includes the one
here. This was also his career best USPGA Tour finish to date so far in his
career. He
has been playing on the USPGA Tour fulltime since the 2008 season after gaining
his full USPGA Tour card by finishing in seventh position on the final 2007 Web.com
Tour Money list with US $302,227 earned from the 25 events he played in. In his
rookie season on the USPGA Tour in 2008 he earned US $775,899 from the 31
events he played in and that included achieving two top ten finishes and he
finished in 135th position on the final 2008 USPGA Tour money list standings
only giving him conditional status on the USPGA Tour for the 2009 season. He
went to the 2008 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament but failed to get his full
playing status back and finished in tied for 107th position. In the 2009 season
he choose to play in as many USPGA Tour events he could gain starts which was
17 and he earned US $593,313 and that included making 12 cuts and achieving two
top ten finishes. He finished in 134th position on the final 2009 USPGA Tour
Money list standings and again only gave him conditional status on the USPGA
Tour for the 2010 season. He went back to the 2009 PGA TOUR Qualifying
Tournament and this time gained his full status back for the 2010 USPGA Tour
season by finishing in solo third position.
In his 2010
season on the USPGA Tour he had a much better season with earning US $1,215,743
from the 27 events he played in and made 17 cuts that included achieving five
top ten finishes and he finished in 72nd position on the final 2010 USPGA Tour
Money list standings easily keeping his full playing status for the 2011
season. In his 2011 season on the USPGA Tour he earned US $602,392 from the 25
events he played in and he made 15 cuts and achieved only one top ten finish.
He finished in 133rd position on the final 2011 USPGA Tour Money list standings
and once again he found himself in the position of only having conditional
status for the 2012 season. He went back to the 2011 PGA TOUR Qualifying
Tournament and failed to gain his full status back for the 2012 USPGA Tour
season by finishing in tied for 38th position. He choose to play in as many
tournaments he could gain starts in the 2012 season and that was 19 with making
eight cuts and only achieving one top ten finish and he earned US $300,254 and
finished in 172nd position on the final 2012 USPGA Tour Money list standings
and that left him with no status at all for the 2013 season. He went back to
the 2012 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament and finished in tied for 14th position
gaining his full USPGA Tour card back for the 2013 season. I hope he can have
some more top ten finishes and keep his full playing status for the 2013/14
season and perhaps even achieve his maiden win in 2013?
Also tied for second position was Johnson Wagner (USA); he too earned US $415,800.00
for his efforts and moved to 89th position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money
list standings with US $700,878 earned from the 19 events he has played to date
this year so far. He also earned 184 FedEx Cup Points for his efforts and moved
to 104th position on the current 2013 FedEx Cup Points standings list with 379
points earned from the 19 events he has played to date this year so far. From
the 19 events he has played to date this year so far he has made seven cuts
from the 19 events he has played in so far and withdrawn from one. And this was
his first top ten finish he has achieved to date so far this season. Johnson
Wagner (USA) has been playing on the USPGA Tour since the 2007 season after
gaining his card by finishing in second position on the final 2006 Web.com Tour
Money list standings with US $ 372,069 earned from the 28 events he played in. In
his last six full years playing the USPGA Tour fulltime and also the 19 events
he has played so far this year and he has earned US $7,782,839 from the 185
events he has played in his career to date so far. In that time he has also
achieved three wins on the USPGA Tour and here they are from the first to the
most recent: 2008 Shell Houston Open, 2011 Mayakoba Golf Classic at
Riviera Maya-Cancun and the 2012 Sony Open in Hawaii. Prior to this
first top ten finish of the year he had missed six out his last seven cuts and
the other event he had withdrawn from. Let’s hope this finish gives him the
confidence to keep on improving and having more top ten finishes in the weeks
to come?
The final player to tie for second position was Jimmy Walker (USA); he
too earned US $415,800.00 for his efforts and moved to 17th position on the
current 2013 USPGA Tour Money list standings with US $1,923,250 earned from the
18 events he has played to date this year so far. He also earned 184 FedEx Cup
Points for his efforts and moved to 17th position on the current 2013 FedEx Cup
Points list standings with 996 points earned from the 18 events he has played
to date so far this year. From those 18 events he has played to date this year
so far he has 16 cuts and achieved five top ten finishes that includes the one
here. This was also his career best USPGA Tour finish to date so far. He
has been playing on the USPGA Tour fulltime for the last five seasons easily
keeping his card each season. But he too is still yet to win his maiden USPGA
Tour event. I feel it could happen in the 2013 season. I wish him all the best
for the rest of the 2013 season.
Coming in tied
for sixth position at 271-9 after 72 holes was the defending Champion, Ted
Potter, Jr. (USA); he earned US $211,050.00 for his efforts and moved to 84th
position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money list standings with US $812,790
earned from the 18 events he has played to date this year so far. He also
earned 92 FedEx Cup Points for his efforts and moved to 72nd position on the
current 2013 FedEx Cup Points list standings with 497 points earned from the 18
events he has played to date this year so far. From the 18 events he has played
to date this year so far he has made ten cuts and achieved two top ten finishes
which includes the one here. He has been playing the USPGA Tour fulltime since
the 2012 season after gain his card by finishing in second position on the
final 2011 Web.com Tour Money list standings with US $ 402,470 earned from the
18 events he played in. His rookie year on the USPGA Tour in 2012 was a good
one with him earning US $1,383,170 from the 25 events he played in and he
finished in 62nd position on the final 2012 USPGA Tour Money list standings and
he won his maiden USPGA Tour event at this very event which was the 2012 The
Greenbrier Classic. That meant he was exempt on the USPGA Tour till the
end of the 2013/14 season. I feel some more top ten finishes aren’t too far
away for him.
Also tied for
sixth position was Brian Stuard (USA); he too earned US $211,050.00 for his
efforts and moved to 63rd position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money list
standings with US $990,724 earned from the twenty events he has played to date
this year so far. He also earned 92 FedEx Cup Points for his efforts and moved
to 63rd position on the current 2013 FedEx Cup Points list standings with 562
points earned from the twenty events he has played to date this year so far. From
the twenty events he has played to date this year so far he has made 12 cuts
and achieved four top ten finishes that includes the one here. He is in his
second time at playing the USPGA Tour full time having had his rookie season in
2010 where he earned US $536,497 from the 28 events he played in and finished
in 154th position on the final 2010 USPGA Tour Money list. He earned his 2013
USPGA Tour card by finishing in 20th position on the final 2012 Web.com Tour
Money list with US $ 205,711 earned from the 26 events he
played in. This year he looks certain to retain his USPGA Tour card for the
2013/14 season.
The final player
to tie for sixth position was Pat Perez (USA); he too earned US $211,050.00 for
his efforts and moved to 67th position on the current 2013 USPGA Tour Money
list standings with US $958,960 earned from the 17 events he has played to date
this year so far. He also earned 92 FedEx Cup Points for his efforts and moved
to 66th position on the current 2013 FedEx Cup Points list standings with 544
points earned from the 17 events he has played to date this year so far. From
those 17 events he has played to date this year so far he has made 13 cuts and
achieved four top ten finishes which includes this one. He has also withdrawn
from one event. Since qualifying for
the USPGA Tour in 2002 after winning the 2001 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament he
has kept his card every year since and had his maiden USPGA Tour win in 2009 at
the 50th Bob Hope Classic hosted by Arnold Palmer. It wouldn’t surprise me at
all if he won his second USPGA Tour event in the 2013 season.
Rounding out the
top ten in tied for ninth position at 272-8 after 72 holes was Daniel
Summerhays (USA); he earned US $140,962.50 for his efforts and moved to 110th

ten finishes with his best being his tied for fourth at the Memorial Tournament
presented by Nationwide Insurance which was his best finish on the USPGA Tour

year. He also is an assistant Captain at this year’s President Cup at Muirfield
Village Golf Club, Dublin – Columbus, Ohio - USA in early October to Fred
Couples (USA). I feel he has at least one win on the USPGA Tour left in him.
Maybe it will happen in the 2013 season? I wish him all the best for the rest
of the 2013 season.

pared the third playoff hole (par-3 18th hole) to defeat Hunter Mahan (USA) to
win the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and the FedEx Cup, winning the latter by
15 points over Webb Simpson (USA) and becoming the first player in his 20s to
win the season-long competition. He entered the final round three strokes
behind Aaron Baddeley (Australia) and Hunter Mahan (USA) but carded a
final-round 68-2 to finish regulation tied with Hunter Mahan (USA) at 8-under
272. In the playoff, he appeared to have shot himself out of winning both on
the second playoff hole, the Par four, 17th hole at East Lake GC, when his
approach to the par 4 landed in the water adjacent to the green. He made a
great up and down for par to continue the playoff. As a result of his win, he pocketed
the US $1,440,000 first-place cheque and the US $10-million prize for winning
the 2011 FedEx Cup. He became just the third player to win the TOUR
Championship in his first appearance, joining Chad Campbell (USA) (2003) and
Bart Bryant (USA) (2005). He and his father, Jay, are the only father-son
combination to tee it up in the TOUR Championship. Now he has achieved his
fifth win on the USPGA Tour I feel the next step for him will be to win his
maiden Major Championship and I believe it could happen in the 2013 season,
perhaps at the Open Championship latter this month? I wish him all the best for
the rest of the 2013 season.
Next week the USPGA Tour and FedEx Cup heads to Silvis for the John Deere
Classic and it is played on the TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL. It carries
a smaller prize purse of US $4,600,000 for the taking. Zach Johnson (USA) is
the defending champion and will be keen for back to back titles in his home
state. It starts on Thursday 11th July. I will report back who won the trophy
next week.
