Thames Golf Club News 4th August 2012

Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
Just 10 Golfers played in the Golf Shop Open in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble on Saturday 4th August. The course was extremely wet underfoot after all the rains during the week but conditions were fine with just the odd shower. Murray Newby found the conditions to his liking scoring 86 off his 18 handicap and retuned 38 Stableford points to win the Golf Shop Open on count back. Best gross score was 76 returned by David Clarke.

Men’s: Murray Newby 38, Richard Blight 38, Don Lyon 38, John Farquhar 36 and Darrin Marshall 36.
Two’s: There were none.
Hidden Hole’s: Murray Newby won them with 11 points to take the Cash.
Next Saturday (11th August) is the Orange Ball Day in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble.


Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
On Saturday 28th July there were 22 starters including one visitor from Akarana in the Saturday Scramble in conjunction with the Mystery Pairs. Conditions were very wet under foot with the heavy rains that had fallen recently, but the greens were putting awesome. There were long fine periods with the odd heavy shower. Bob Hind scored 85 off his 20 handicap and returned 41 Stableford points to win the scramble. Jamie Smith returned the best gross round which was 78.

Men’s: Bob Hind 41, Ian Fielder 39, Don Lyon 38, Tom Handley 37, Jamie Smith 36, Tony Cathcart 36, Geoff Page 35 and Paul Oxford 34.
Two’s: Murray Newby had the only one on the 14th hole.
Hidden Hole’s: Bob Hind won with 12 points to take all the Cash.
Next Saturday (4th August) is the Golf Shop Open in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble.


Thames Golf Club – Thursday Scramble
A very small field played in the Thursday Scramble on Thursday 26th July. Conditions were Sunny although a little wet under foot. Lee Thompson found them to his liking scoring a 75 off his 9 handicap which was also the best gross score of the day and he returned 40 Stableford Points to win the scramble.

Men’s: Lee Thompson 40 and Doug Way 37.
Two’s: Lee Thompson had the only one on the 8th hole.
Hidden Hole’s: Lee Thompson had 10 points to win the cash.
