Thames Golf Club – Peninsula Prime Meats Open
A small field of 15 Golfers played in the June, Peninsula Prime Meats Open that included visitors from Hauraki, Waihi and Tahuna. There was a strong westerly wind blow across the course and it was wet underfoot from the recent rains. But the greens were putting true. Lyal Harris (Hauraki) scored 91 off his 21 handicap and returned 36 Stableford points to win the best meat pack on count back. Tom Handley (Thames) returned the best gross score on the day which was 81.

Men’s: Lyal Harris (Hauraki) 36, Bill Rendall 36, Tom Handley 36, Chris Leavy 36, Brian Meek 35, John Pinnell 34 and Ike Ashworth 34.
Two’s: Tom Handley had the only one on the 14th hole.
Hidden Holes: Ike Ashworth and Tom Handley had 10 points to share the Cash.

Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
On Saturday 9th June, 27 Players played in the Saturday Nett Scramble in conjunction with the Semi – Finals of the Petley Cup 4BBB. It was a sunny day with the Occasional Shower and a moderate South Westerly wind blowing across the course. Neil Hall found the conditions to his liking scoring 87 off his 25 handicap and returned a 62 nett to win the Scramble on count back. Jamie Smith and Greg Overend returned the best gross round’s of the day which were 75.

Two’s: There were none.
Hidden Holes: Neil Hall had 11 points to win all the Cash.
There was also two Petley Cup 4BBB Semi – Finals played, the first one was between Neil Hall/Greg Overend verse Ian Fielder/Mark Browne and Neil Hall/Greg Overend prevailed to make the Final. In the second Semi – Final it was between Bill Watene/Richard Blight verse Bob Carr/Stan Kendall and Bill Watene/Richard Blight won convincingly 7&6 to make the Final. Next week (Saturday 16th June) is the usual Saturday Scramble run in conjunction with the Petley Cup 4BBB Final where Neil Hall/Greg Overend square off against Bill Watene/Richard Blight.
