Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
On Saturday 16th June, 30 players played in the nett scramble in conjunction with the final of the Petley Cup 4BBB with one visitor from the Lakes Resort. After a frosty start it came out a sunny day and the greens were in great condition. Sam Carswell certainly took advantage of them scoring the best round of the day which was a one under par 69 off his 4 handicap and returned a 65 nett to win the scramble.

Men’s: Sam Carswell 65, Jamie Smith 66, Ike Ashworth 66, Merv Cunningham 67, Bill Rendall 67, Bob Hind 68, Herb Mabey 68, Greg Overend 69, Geoff Jewitt (Lakes Resort) 70, Murray Newby 71, Stuart Bell 71, Hayden Thomas 72, Lee Thompson 72, John Brown 72 and Darrin Marshall 72.
Two’s: Jamie Smith on the 8th and 14th holes; Ike Ashworth and Keith Williams on the 1st hole and Sam Carswell, Ian Fielder, Merv Cunningham and Judee Watene on the 14th hole.
Hidden Hole’s: Jamie Smith and Sam Carswell shared them with 11 points.
Next Saturday (23rd June) is the first round of the Clendon Cup on nett in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble. And on Sunday (24th June) it is the Sponsors Family Ambrose Tournament. 

Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
On Saturday 23rd June, there was a field of 30 Golfers that played in the Scramble in conjunction with the first round of the Clendon Cup on nett. After overcast, cool conditions to start with it fined up to a pleasant winters day. Bill Rendall scored 87 off his 24 handicap and returned a 63 nett to easily win the scramble and take an early 3 stroke lead in the Clendon Cup with 2 rounds remaining (best 2 of 3 rounds count) in the following two weeks. Best gross score of the day was 72 returned by Steve Gooder.

Men’s: Bill Rendall 63, Tasi Rae 66, Bill Watene 66, Leslie Wairepo 67, Laurie Wells 67, Geoff Sainty 68, Steve Gooder 69, Hayden Thomas 69, Ian Fielder 69, Greg Overend 69, Lee Thompson 70, Don Lyon 71, Paul Hamilton 71, John Pinnell 71 and Sam Carswell 73.
Two’s: Greg Overend on the 8th hole and John Trim on the 10th hole.  
Hidden Hole’s: Don Lyon had 10 points to take home a large sum of Cash.
The final of the Petley Cup 4BBB match play was also played with Greg Overend/Neil Hall squaring off against Richard Blight/Bill Watene. In a very close fought match, Greg Overend/Neil Hall prevailed to beat Richard Blight/Bill Watene 2&1. Next Saturday (30th June) is the second round of the Clendon Cup on nett in conjunction with the usual Saturday scramble.
