Thames Golf Club News 21st July 2012


Thames Golf Club – Thursday Scramble
On Thursday 19th July a very small field played in the Thursday Scramble. Conditions were pleasant with the Sun Shining and Tom Handley found them to his liking scoring 76 off his 12 handicap and equalling his age again. He returned 42 Stableford points to win the scramble. Best gross round was 74 returned by Steve Gooder.

Men’s: Tom Handley 42, Doug Madgwick 40 and Frank Walsh 37.
Two’s: There were none.
Hidden Hole’s: Tom Handley and Steve Gooder shared them on 9 points. 

Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
Just fewer than 30 Golfers played in the Saturday Scramble on Saturday 21st July. Conditions were difficult with a strong north easterly wind blowing and some of the pin placements were tucked in tricky places. Bruce Stockman scored 84 off his 20 handicap and returned 42 Stableford points to win the scramble. Best gross round on the day was 73 returned by Hayden Thomas.

Men’s: Bruce Stockman 42, Don Lyon 40, Geoff Page 40, Hayden Thomas 39, Craig Bradley 38, Merv Cunningham 36, Murray Newby 36, Jamie Smith 36, Tasi Rae 35, Paul Mitchell 35, Herb Mabey 35, Stan Kendall 34 and Bob Carr 34.
Two’s: Paul Mitchell had the only one on the 14th hole to take all the balls.
Hidden Hole’s: Jamie Smith and Bob Carr each had 12 points to share the cash.
Next Saturday (28th July) is the Mystery Pairs in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble.
