Thames Golf Club News 5th July 2012


Thames Golf Club – Thursday Scramble
A very small field played in the scramble on Thursday 28th June. Brian Meek scored 93 off his 24 handicap and returned 37 Stableford points to win the scramble.

Men’s: Brian Meek 37 and Frank Walsh 30.
Two’s: There were none.
Hidden Holes: Brian Meek won them with 9 points. 

Thames Golf Club – Saturday Scramble
On Saturday 30th June, 30 players played in the scramble in conjunction with the second round of the Clendon Cup on nett (Best 2 of 3 rounds to count). After a heavy frost and extremely cold temperatures the sun came out and it warmed up slightly in the afternoon. Neil Hall found the conditions to his liking scoring 88 off his 24 handicap and returned a 64 nett to win the scramble. Les Wairepo has the lead after two rounds of the Clendon Cup after he returned his second consecutive 67 netts for a 36 hole total of 134 nett and he leads Tasi Rae by 1 stroke who is on 135 nett. Best gross round of the day was 75 returned by Paul Mitchell.

Men’s: Neil Hall 64, Les Wairepo 67, Bob Hind 68, Keith Williams 68, Paul Mitchell 68, Gary Webber 69, Tasi Rae 69, Jamie Smith 70, Geoff Page 70, Ian Fielder 71, Murray Newby 71, David Clarke 71, Greg Overend 71, Tom Handley 71 and Don Lyon.
Two’s:  Paul Mitchell had two on the 1st and 14th holes and Don Lyon on the 1st hole.
Hidden Holes: Les Wairepo won them with 11 points to take the cash.
Next Saturday (7th July) is the third round of the Clendon Cup on nett in conjunction with the usual Saturday Scramble.
